What is surface drain ? Types of surface drain.

SURFACE DRAIN:
The surface drain will provide a cheap arrangement for collecting sullage and storm water. These drains are of open type and are less hygienic.
TYPES OF DRAINS:
1. Rectangular section: This drain is suitable for large discharge self-cleansing will not be developed for small discharges. Deposition of suspended particles will take place.

2. Semi-circular section: This drain can easily be constructed. They can be formed by using ready made semi circular section of stoneware or concrete or AC pipes. These drains are suitable for small streets where the discharge is small and work out cheap.

3. U-section drain: These are U- shape and are easy to construct. They have the advantage of both semi-circular and rectangular drain. The sides are vertical and bottom is curved.

4.V-Section drain: These drains posses better hydraulic properties, but they are difficult to construct these V- shaped drain can carry the fluctuating discharge without depositing solids.
